Review: Where the gods fear to tread – Devoid of Dreams

If the name doesn’t already give this away, Devoid of Dreams debut single “where the Gods fear to tread” (listen here) is a different beast. Floating somewhere between the sound of a primary combination of distorted guitar flurries, syncopated rhythms, spacious reverberated clean passages, hardcore yells, screams and melodic clean singing, this is a cracker of a tune, that the band is commemorating their entry into the music scene since their second incarnation. Also prevalent is a sublime highlight that crystallizes the effects-heavy and insistent sound created with this production. Overall, the single is a smattering of shoe gaze on a framework of melodic death-core.

Ratings 6/10.
