Gig alert: The iffy Gig – Felix Langstieh

The second edition of “the iffy gig”  at DEJAVU will feature Felix Langstieh, a multi instrumentalist musician and educator.

Being born and brought up in a family of musicians, Felix grew up to listening, hearing and playing music from a very tender age. Though his specialization and style is geared more towards contemporary music, Felix grew up listening to all kinds of music – be it rock, pop, classical, gospel…etc..

He was always associated with gospel music in one way or another since his school days. In fact, this was how he developed, picked up and matured into becoming a professional musician.

During his early college days, he joined the once very popular rock group of Shillong, ”The Innocent Eyes”, as the band’s guitar player & keyboard player.  After this band, there were also other bands that Felix was part of and currently, for the past several years, his present band is “Felixis”, which originates from his very name.

As a performer, Felix has performed in countless shows, concerts and festivals locally, nationally and internationally as well, besides also being the keyboardist at the Nongthymmai Catholic Church and the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians and also being involved in several music related church activities from time to time.

It was on 1st November 2000 that Felix started his own private music institute – Andante Institute of Contemporary Music (AICM).

He is the proprietor as well as the only instructor and to date, he has taught around 3000 students in guitar, keyboard, bass & drums.

His students come from all age groups, from different varied backgrounds and from other parts of the country as well.

People who flock to him for learning music come from all spheres of life – school children, college students, university students, drop outs, working people, religious people, people intending to pursue a career in music, officers, retired people, house wives, labourers, farmers, city folks, village folks…..just about anyone who has a love and zeal for learning a musical instrument!
