Bobby Cash to perform in Shillong

Hearsay about a Bobby Cash who plays country music to perform in Shillong on the 2nd of June 2011 made many of us wonder why the Department of Arts and Culture, Meghalaya would want to spend money on an American Country singer. Talk about  an energy laden first saturday of the month and its killjoy. But wait! After a few phone calls and questionnaires, we learn that Bobby Cash is Indian! Damn. So now we had to get online and do some research.

(What if “Bobby” is also an Indian Name? Since we already have celebrities like Bobby Deol  celebrated in Indian Cinema. hmmm? Naah.. thats a stupid thought 😀 )

This is what his website says-

“Born Bal Kishore Das Loiwal, his father used to call him “Babu” which became “Bobby”- and Kishore became “Kish”, which in turn became “Cash”.

Bobby Cash grew up and resides in Clement Town, near Dehradun (NE India) in the foothills of theHimalayas. His recent nomination for CMA Global Artist Award in 2005 is tribute to his achievements in the past 3 years. After briefly dabbling in “Hindi pop” he returned to his first true love- Country Music. His CD “Cowboy at Heart” was released independently by Gobsmacked Television in December 2003 and made it into the top 10 Australian Country Music track charts and was the highest selling independent artist for distributor One Stop Entertainment at the 2004 Tamworth Country Music Festival.”

Bobby Cash performs live on the 2nd of June 2012 at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong from 5pm onwards.
